The Friends of Camp Arbolado is a web site for current and former campers and staff that have a heart for the work to be done at YMCA of Greater Whittier Camp Arbolado. It is maintained by former camp staff members with the primary goal of supplementing and upgrading existing camp program areas. Cleaning, tending, building, and buying to enhance these programs has been the primary focus, accomplished by spending work weekends volunteering wherever the needs are and putting the few donated dollars to the most efficient use.
Many of us came to camp looking for fun, work, friends, a spiritual connection. We found all that and so very much more. This positive experience has caused many of us to live mindfully and in service to others in our lives today. The cost is our time and sweat but the rewards are so much greater than we can express.
