A week at Arbolado has much more to offer than great activities, fantastic leaders and nonstop fun. It also offers the chance to make new friends, to be independent, to take new responsibilities, to learn new skills, to become more confident and to accept new challenges. Camp Arbolado is a magical place where deep and loving bonds are formed which last a lifetime. For those children and young adults 15 -16 years old, Camp Arbolado offers a Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program. This program offers on-the-job training for becoming a future counselor and camp staff member, new experiences, incredible personal growth leadership practice and service projects. To determine if a camper can be accepted into the CIT program, he/she must be interviewed by the Camp Program Director or other designated staff person.

For all the above sessions, the following policies apply:
- Campers will not be allowed to bring cell phones. Cell phones will be taken and returned to the camp at the end of the session. Numerous problems with campers bringing cell phones (crank 911 calls, making homesickness problems worse, etc.) has made this policy necessary.
- Counselors and co-counselors must turn their cell phones into the directing staff. If they need to call, contact one of the directing staff to arrange for an appropriate time to make the call. Problems with cell phones significantly distracting counselors and co-counselors from their duties has made this policy necessary.
- All fees are to be paid prior to departure for camp. Those campers/families whose fees are not paid will be not be able to come to camp. Please retain all receipts and bring them with you on the day of departure to eliminate any confusion.
- For Winter Holiday, Easter and Summer camp sessions, one registration form is required for EACH camper.
- A $50 nonrefundable deposit for each camp registration form is due when the form(s) is(are) turned in.
- The appropriate Camp Arbolado registration form must be filled out completely by the parent/guardian and processed by the YMCA of Greater Whittier before a camper/family can come to camp. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE DAY OF CAMP TO TURN IN THESE FORMS!
- There is financial aid available. To be eligible, the camper will be asked to supplement this aid by selling YMCA peanuts. Click here to find out more information about peanut sales. Any peanuts sold will go towards the camper's fees. Because scholarship moneys are limited, assignment to both levels will be based on a first come, first served basis. Contact the East Whittier YMCA Camp office ((562)943-7241) for financial aid application forms.
- Parents are expected to be on time to pick up their children. Parents should also be prepared to pick children up from camp due to emergency or inappropriate behavior.
- Children are responsible for their own luggage, money and personal articles. Any items left once all the children return from camp will be held for 2 weeks at the East Whittier YMCA, then donated to a local charity.
Thank you for accessing this YMCA of Greater Whittier web page. If you have any web questions, comments, or suggestions, please e-mail, write, or call us. We would love to hear from you.
