The YMCA of Greater Whittier seeks to annually enroll persons participating in YMCA activities, programs, and services as members. The YMCA is a member supported organization. Membership and program fees reflect the actual costs of services. By becoming a member, you not only receive lower fees on most classes, camps and activities, you also receive the following benefits:
- A FAMILY is defined as two adults and their dependents age 17 and under living in the same household.
- A SINGLE FAMILY is defined as one adult and dependents age 17 and under living in the same household.
- A YOUTH is defined as an individual 17 and younger.
- An ADULT is defined as an individual 18 to 61.
- A SENIOR is defined as an adult 62 and over.
- Joiner's Fees
Joining fees are paid by all new members at the time of registration. Members who let their membership lapse for more than 90 days must pay the joining fee to re-enroll. Joining fees are non-refundable, and are restricted for future capital expansion and improvement.
"Easy-Pay" Monthly Membership Plan
For your convenience, the YMCA offers a monthly automatic bank transfer program. Members make a one month down payment plus joiner's fee and, with your authorization, monthly membership dues are then deducted automatically from your checking account. Your draft will begin one month later. Annual memberships are also available and may be paid in cash, check or credit card.
If for any reason you are unhappy with our services within the first 30 days of membership, we will gladly refund your joining fee and the unused portion of your membership.
YMCA memberships are continuous. On the bank draft plan (ATS) there is no need to renew your membership. You may cancel at any time by giving 20 days written notice and returning your membership ID cards. Memberships lapsing more than 30 days will be subject to a joiner's fee upon rejoining.
Childwatch / Babywatch
Childwatch services available to all family members. Our staff gives tender loving care to children while mom and dad participate in our health and fitness programs.
All members must present their membership card for scanning to enter the facility. There is a $10 charge to replace a lost card. Members must bring their own towels and lock, which must be removed daily. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
Locker Room Policies
Adult locker rooms - Ages 14 & up
Family locker rooms - Ages 13 & under and parents with preschool children
(Children over age 5 must use proper gender locker rooms)
The YMCA of Greater Whittier does not carry accident/sickness medical insurance on its members or participants. Members and program participants are responsible for providing primary accident and sickness medical insurance. The YMCA does not provide this type of coverage for persons enrolled as members or class participants. All injury expenses incurred while at the Y or through involvement in Y programs and activities are the responsibility of the participant.
Group Facility Use
